History
| A little more than an idea propelled the founders of Turning Technologies to take a chance financially and creatively, breaking from their previous audience response employer in order to lead the industry in an entirely different direction. After years in the business, Mike Broderick, Turning Technologies’ CEO, believed there was an untapped market for response technology in classrooms as well as boardrooms. Mike and two other original founders saw huge possibilities to create an easy-to-use, portable and affordable product.
TurningPoint® - interactive PowerPoint® software - was launched in 2002, with ground-breaking credit card size ResponseCard® response devices following in 2004. With its seamless integration to the most popular presentation software on the market, the interactive, data-collecting software had little learning curve - perfect for teachers, lecturers or presenters - so different from the complicated and confusing response technology of the past, TurningPoint adaption quickly took off. ResponseCards instantly appealed to the industry as well with their size and durability. First with infrared capabilities and followed quickly with radio frequency. ResponseCards are small, simple, durable and much cheaper than previous response devices from other companies. Within only a couple of years, Turning provided professionals and educators spanning the globe with a complete package to engage their audience, instantly collect valuable data, and dramatically improve learning and meeting environments. Innovative, user-friendly products allowed Turning to grow exponentially, 3,707.9% from 2004-2007. In 2007, Inc. Magazine named Turning the fastest growing privately held software company in the U.S. Entrepreneur Magazine recognized the company as the seventh fastest growing private U.S. company. Numerous other accolades have accumulated since Turning's inception and the awards continue as new products and services are unveiled. From 2007 - 2008, the company grew from 50 employees to 130, quickly outgrowing the space at the Youngstown Business Incubator. In May of 2008, the company packed up and moved next door to the newly constructed Taft Technology Center with30,000 square feet for Turning's continued exponential growth. Since 2007, Turning has sold products and services to organizations worldwide in over 90 countries. Turning's CEO Mike Broderick’s motto is, "We're just getting started. Keep watching!" |
