Turning Donates Response System to Dartmouth College’s Big Green Bus

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Turning Technologies, LLC, a leader in the audience response industry, has partnered with the students of Dartmouth College to provide audience response systems on the 2008 Big Green Bus Tour.

The Big Green Bus Tour was founded in 2005 by 15 Dartmouth students in an effort to inform people about alternative fuels. Over the summer, the crew travels cross country in a green bus converted by engineering students to run on vegetable oil, stopping along the way to give informative speeches about America's relationship with energy and alternative solutions to the country's current energy problems. Each year, a new group of students takes on the responsibility of traversing the states and spreading their green message in an effort to stimulate environmental action in communities throughout the country.

During this tour, the group plans to deliver interactive presentations to its 43 stops through the use of Turning's audience response products. While informative, the sessions are meant to be low-key and fun. With the help of TurningPoint®, interactive PowerPoint®, software for presentation development and delivery and ResponseCard® keypads for audience polling with immediate displayed results, students hope to engage and educated their audience with their key message. For non-computer-based polling, crew members will use ResponseCard® AnyWhere™ - a stand-alone, handheld receiver that opens and closes polling with the press of a button and instantly displays results on its LCD screen with the option to transfer data to a PC. Turning donated 60 RF ResponseCards, a ResponseCard AnyWhere receiver, and TurningPoint audience response software for use on the tour.

"The response system really allows our audience to participate in the presentations and become active learners. We can now engage a large group of people and interact with them on a level we were never able to achieve before," says Dartmouth crew member Elysa Corin.

The Big Green Bus Tour kicked off on June 8, 2008 in Hanover, New Hampshire and will continue to tour the country through the end of August.
