Equal Voice Holds Largest Remote Polling Event Produced by Turning
| Youngstown, OH - (October 22, 2008) - On September 6, 2008 Turning Technologies produced the largest remote polling event to date, with approximately 10,000 attendees in three different locations. The event was the Equal Voice for America's Families National Convention held in Birmingham, Alabama, Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles, California using Turning's revolutionary RemotePoll™ software.
Equal Voice for America's Families is part of the Marguerite Casey Foundation and is aimed at improving the lives of low income families through action plans created and implemented by families across the nation. Over a six month period leading up to the convention, more than 60 town hall meetings were conducted nationwide by the organization in order to establish a platform of family-based issues to later be revealed. The national convention was coordinated with the help of AmericaSpeaks, an organization aimed at engaging citizens in governance. "We were very excited to be a part of this ground-breaking event," said Turning's CEO Mike Broderick. "This was a momentous occasion for Equal Voice and an opportunity to bring families from across the nation together for a simultaneous discussion on some of the most important issues facing Americans today. Our RemotePoll technology allowed 10,000 people to vote at once with a press of a button - and obtain valuable feedback that could potentially shape their futures. We were honored to be included." Polling took place simultaneously at all three locations to gain consensus on the proposed platform and gather demographic information from participants. Turning's ground-breaking RemotePoll software made it possible for participants at all three locations to respond with a simple press of a button - without the use of satellites. For the first time instantaneous feedback was gathered in real-time from approximately 10,000 participants - the largest audience of a remote polling event thus far. In anticipation of extra attendees, Turning prepared to support an audience of 12,000. Results were then immediately displayed on presentation screens at the various locations. The general excitement of the crowd was felt as each set of results was revealed with cheers and applause from all three audiences. The attendees were highly vocal on how important the experience was for each of them and how the conversation opened many eyes to the hardships faced by low income families. According to Chief Operating Officer of AmericaSpeaks, Steve Brigham, "This event was a way to organize citizens towards the common goal of improving the lives of America's families everywhere. With the help of Turning Technologies, we were able to link families gathered in three different cities together and obtain valuable feedback regarding solutions to improve the lives of all American families. Simultaneously polling participants in the three cities not only allowed the families to participate and see what other people were thinking, it also provided valuable information for the creation of a national family platform to present to the next presidential administration. This was the largest interactive event that AmericaSpeaks has done so far." The platform revealed at the convention included topics such as child care, education, employment and job training, health care, housing and more. With a majority of low income families in attendance, Equal Voice now has the data to support an agenda that truly speaks on behalf of the poor. Results from polling will be integrated into a final version of the platform to later be presented to the next presidential administration. Technical Coordinator, Mike Smith of Manifest Management said, "The use of Turning Technologies' Audience Response System at this three-city event was a huge success. People were excited to be engaged and have their opinions heard on this family-led social movement. Turning made it very simple for polling to occur simultaneously and in real-time at the Birmingham, Chicago and Los Angeles locations. The physical connection between each of these cities provided great energy and enhanced feedback from the participants. This could not be possible without the unique Turning Technologies' RemotePoll technology."
