eSchool Media Reader's Choice Award

eSchool Media is the parent company to three, leading education publications including eSchool News, eCampus News and eClassroom News. Each year, practicing educators are asked to nominate their favorite ed-tech product or service. Categories could include any hardware, software or online service in any area of education technology. Winners are divided into three categories: K-12, Higher Education and Honorable Mention. In 2012, Turning Technologies was awarded a spot on the K-12 list for its flagship product TurningPoint.

Weatherhead 100 List

The Council of Smaller Enterprises and Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management has selected Turning Technologies as a Weatherhead 100 winner for 2012. The Weatherhead 100 recognizes the fastest-growing companies in Northeat Ohio and has included Turning in the prestigious list for the past four years.

District Administration Top 100 Products of 2011

K-12 publication District Administration asks its readers each year to select the Top 100 products for recognition. Each nomination required a testimonial from a school administrator to understand how each product has made an impact within a school or district. Turning Technologies’ polling software TurningPoint AnyWhere was chosen for inclusion on the 2011 list. TurningPoint AnyWhere will be recognized in the magazine, online, in the digital edition and will receive a winner’s certificate.

Inc. Magazine 5000 List

The Inc. 500|5000 list is ranked according to revenue growth from 2007 - 2011. Companies on the list must be privately held, for profit and independent as of December 31, 2010. Having been honored with the top award in software in 2007, Turning has remained on the list for five years in a row. In 2010, Turning ranked 3959 of 5000 with a three-year growth of 46%. According to industry, Turning ranks 472.

Ohio Venture Assocation's 2011 Venture of the Year Award

Each year, the Ohio Venture Association selects a company to receive the distinction of Venture of the Year. In 2011, Turning Technologies was chosen due to its continued success and contributes to the region. The OVA is a group of northeast Ohio business people dedicated to providing an atmosphere for the interchange of ideas on entrepreneurship, new ventures and venture capital. Turning was honored at a luncheon with two other finalists.

Weatherhead 100 List

For a third year in a row, Turning Technologies was once again honored with a place in the top percentage of the Weatherhead 100 list. Coming in at number 19, Turning experienced a sales growth of 204.22% from 2005 - 2009. The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University uses a particular ranking system that acknowledges the region's fastest growing companies. Since 2004, the Weatherhead 100 is compiled and managed by the Council of Smaller Enterprise.

District Administration Top 100 Products of 2010

Every year, District Administration compiles the top 100 products according to readers. 2010 saw an increase of dependency on technology by administrators and classroom educators, helping to maintain the quality of instruction, offer new educational opportunities to students and streamline complex administrative tasks. Turning Technologies' K-12 Progress Monitoring Bundle was listed as one of the top products and includes six pre-packaged assessments, 32 seat RF LCD Student Response System and a one year subscription to Performance Matters.

Inc. Magazine 5000 List

The Inc. 500|5000 list annually recognizes innovative, entrepreneurial leaders. Companies are ranked by overall revenue growth over a three-year period and features fast-growing companies by industry, metro area, revenue and number of employees. As its most distinguished editorial award, the list recognizes only privately-held companies in the United States. For the fourth year in a row, Turning Technologies has remained on the list, ranking 3114 of 5000.

2010 Crain's Leading EDGE Awards

Crain's Leading EDGE Awards celebrates northeast Ohio mid-market companies that create great value for themselves and the region that includes 17 counties. Top companies were identified based on their EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) added to taxable employee compensation, a calculation used to determine the value nominated companies contribute to the region. Qualifying companies have sales revenue up to $75 million and must currently sell some of their goods or services outside the region, or have plans to do so. The awards are presented by nonprofit organization The Entrepreneurs EDGE and Crain's Business Cleveland.

IMS LearnSat Award

IMS Global Learning Consortium announced the winners of its annual LearnSat awards, recognizing Turning Technologies as its first place winner in the category of "Classroom: Response & Assessment." With additional promotion from Campus Technology magazine, over 450 respondents participated in the voting survey, in which there were deemed sufficient responses to ascertain a clear rank ordering. The top three products are designated only in those categories that received sufficient responses to establish a clear rank order beyond the top product. It is the continued mission of IMS Global Learning Consortium to advance technology that can affordably scale and improve educational participation and attainment.

2010 NEO Success Awards

Turning Technologies has been recognized for a third year at the 2010 NEO Success Awards. The awards honor the top-performing companies in the northeastern region of Ohio. Hosted by Inside Business Magazine in Cleveland, Ohio, award winners reflect the region’s determination to expand and revitalize its economic status. The NEO Success Award is unique in its combined measurement of business success in sales, growth and profitability. Over 90 local businesses were honored at a March luncheon.

Turning Technologies was recognized for a second year in a row as number two on the Weatherhead 100 List. The Weatherhead 100 recognizes the fastest-growing companies in the northeastern region of Ohio and is a joint effort of the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) and the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. From 2004 to 2008, Turning experienced sales growth of 983% and employee growth of 742%.

2009 Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence

Each year, Tech & Learning recognizes the "best of the best" in educational software, hardware, network and web products. Turning Technologies' ResponseWare was selected as a winner in the best new product category. ResponseWare is a web-based polling application that allows students to respond to interactive questions via Internet-connected devices including laptops, smartphones, desktops and more. Tech & Learning selects award winners on "quality and effectiveness, ease of use, creative use of technology, and suitability for use in an educational environment."

For the third year in a row, Turning Technologies has been included on the list of fastest-growing privately held companies in the country. Inc. Magazine recognizes entrepreneurial leaders annually according to overall revenue growth within a three-year period. Turning was recognized for its achievements, ranking 1911 of 5000 on the list. The Inc. 500 list began in 1982 and has been since expanded for a comprehensive view of the state of entrepreneurship.

Turning Technologies was among 96 Northeast Ohio companies honored at The 2009 Crain’s Leading EDGE Awards on May 20th at Kent State University. In its third year, this prestigious award was created and developed by The Entrepreneurs EDGE to recognize value-creating middle-market companies in the region. Qualifying companies operate within the 17 counties of Northeast Ohio and generate revenues up to $750 million, a portion required to be outside the region.

Turning Technologies has once again been honored at the 2009 NEO Success Awards. The awards are hosted by Inside Business Magazine, based out of Cleveland, Ohio and identify the top-performing companies in the northeastern region of Ohio. Now in its fifteenth year, the awards acknowledged 89 companies for their revenue and employee growth over the past three years. Turning was recognized as the number three company in revenue growth and the number one company in employee growth within its category of $15 to $50 million organizations.

Weatherhead 100 List

The 2008 Weatherhead 100 list placed Turning Technologies at number two of fast-growing northeast Ohio companies. In conjunction with the Council of Smaller Enterprises and The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, the list acknowledges and brings together the region's most profitable companies. Qualifying companies must show consistent growth over a period of five years. Turning's sales growth percentage from 2003-2007 was 5,229%.

Turning Technologies has been chosen as a recipient of the prestigious 2008 Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence for their interactive student response software, TurningPoint 2008. Technology and Learning selects award recipients by evaluating products which are "innovative applications that break new ground as well as those that demonstrate clear superiority over similar products in the market."

Inc. Magazine 500 List

For the second year in a row, Turning Technologies came in again among the fastest growing privately held software technology companies in the country on the prestigious 2008 Inc. 500 list. Turning ranked 15th in a list of 284 similar companies in the nation. The Inc. 500 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. The success of Turning's response technology has resulted in a three-year growth rate of 900.3%. Inc. attributed a portion of Turning’s continued aggressive growth to new foreign markets which provided a 20 percent sales increase last year.

2008 NEO Success Awards

Turning Technologies was recognized as one of the most successful companies in Northeast Ohio at the 2008 NEO Success Awards presented by Inside Business Magazine.  Since 1994, the awards have recognized the region's most successful private, public and emerging companies based on revenue and employment growth.  Turning was second on the list of emerging companies, published in the March 2008 issue of Inside Business.

District Administration Top 100 Products of 2007-2008

Turning Technologies was listed in the publication District Administration as producing one of the Top 100 Products of 2007-2008, as chosen by their readers.  The TurningPoint Response System qualified under their hardware category, listing products that increased productivity among educators and made learning more exciting for students.  Using comments posted by readers, District Administration released a special edition of the publication in February 2008 to highlight the best of the best in educational products.

Turning Technologies Named Fastest Growing Company in Northeast Ohio

Turning Technologies was named the fastest growing company in Northeast Ohio at the annual Weatherhead 100 Awards presented by the collaboration of the Council for Smaller Enterprises, the Greater Cleveland Partnership and the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. The Weatherhead 100 is a ranking of 100 regional companies based upon percentage growth in sales. Since its founding in 2001, Turning Technologies has experienced a more than 18,000 percent growth in sales.

Priority Magazine named Turning Technologies 2007 Small Business of the Year. Priority, a Pitney Bowes publication, provides a wealth of knowledge and insight to small business owners regarding practical business advice, resources, trends as well as competitive and financial solutions to over 700,000 small businesses.  Reed Richardson, Priority Magazine’s Managing Editor, stated, “[Turning Technologies’] innovative business model and phenomenal growth as well as its crucial role in helping to revitalize downtown Youngstown, made it our clear choice.”

Turning Technologies' CEO Receives Entrepreneurial Spirit Award

Inside Business Magazine honored Mike Broderick, CEO of Turning Technologies, LLC with the inaugural Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. The award was presented by Sam Miller, Co-Chairman of the Board and Treasurer of Forest City Enterprises, Inc., as part of the Northeast Ohio Business Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. Mike was recognized as a strong individual with “a true entrepreneurial spirit.” Broderick was selected based upon the growth achieved by Turning Technologies, his willingness to take business oriented risks as well as for his dedication to the Northeast Ohio region.

Turning Technologies Recognized by Inc. Magazine as Fastest Growing Privately Held Software Company in the Country.


Inc. Magazine recognized Turning Technologies as the number one fastest growing privately held software technology company in the country by Inc. Magazine. Additionally, Turning ranked 18th overall in the Inc 500 listing of the fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. Companies are ranked according to the percentage growth of their revenue from 2003 through 2006. "To be less than 6 years old and recognized nationally as the fastest growing privately-held software technology company is nothing short of incredible," commented Mike Broderick, CEO of Turning Technologies.

Turning Technologies Named 7th Fastest Growing Company in U.S. by Entrepreneur Magazine


Turning Technologies was recently recognized as the 7th fastest growing company in Entrepreneur Magazine's Hot 500 List. Nearly 95,000 U.S. companies met the designated criteria for eligibility. Mike Broderick, CEO of Turning Technologies commented, "Being the seventh-fastest growing company shows that many customers are placing their confidence in Turning Technologies and its audience response systems."

Turning Technologies' TurningPoint audience response system won Europe's most prestigious BETT Award in the primary and secondary hardware category, beating out competition from five other national and international brands. The British Education and Training Technology show (BETT) is the world's leading international educational technology event which caters to educational suppliers as well as members of the global teaching and learning community.

Turning Technologies' Web site was recognized with a Silver W3 Award. The W3 Awards celebrate the achievements of creative and marketing professionals behind award winning websites, videos and marketing programs. Partnering with Red Door Interactive, an Internet presence management firm based in San Diego, California, Turning Technologies developed an impressive, interactive site that allows both new and current customers to learn about the latest response technology using the latest Web technology. "The scope and complexity of the site was daunting, not to mention we had a lot riding on the success of this project," comments Tony DeAscentis, Vice President of Marketing, Turning Technologies. "Red Door's experience and application of project methodologies were absolutely critical to us beating deadlines and delivering a truly incredible Web site."

Turning Technologies' CEO Mike Broderick, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 award for the Northeast Ohio region. Ernst & Young held the special 20th anniversary gala event June 21, 2006, at the Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland, OH.
