RemotePoll Case Study

BACKGROUND

Pulse Interactive Media is an event production company with a mission to add interactive elements to standard meetings. With a tagline of "resuscitating the everyday meeting," founder Wendy Azad entered the market five years ago knowing that response technology would be a big factor in her success. After conducting extensive research on the top five leading providers, she selected Turning Technologies solutions without hesitation.

"We were really impressed with Turning Technologies and the company's efforts to remain on the forefront," said Azad. "It was definitely clear that Turning was working hard to maintain that cutting-edge feel. In fact, we felt almost foolish to go with any other provider. We couldn't hitch our wagon to a company that wasn't going to update itself or its technology on a regular basis."

CHALLENGE

A client request to conduct polling simultaneously from multiple, remote locations during a live broadcast made Azad examine Turning's solutions once again. While its flagship product TurningPoint is the main polling application that Pulse employs on a weekly basis, it was its extension product RemotePoll that caught her attention for this specific meeting. RemotePoll offers the ability to extend TurningPoint's polling ability to multiple, remote locations and instantly combine all the results. No satellites are needed and participants can respond with the same, small ResponseCard keypads.

"We had looked around at some other technology, but we were really impressed with the simplicity of RemotePoll. Being able to use the same ResponseCard keypads was also a plus. The ResponseCards are so easy to use - it's very intuitive for the audience to just push a button. There isn't a lot of confusion, regardless of the age demographics. It was pretty much a no brainer on our end," said Azad.

SOLUTION

Another solution that Azad looked at during the evaluation process was text polling. Her client, however, had passed on the idea because of concerns that the audience would be distracted by their phones and would lose interest in the presentation. Azad has experienced similar situations with text polling, and knowing that the audience may have a difficult time using the system as well, had agreed that text polling was not an option for this type of professional environment. RemotePoll was the solution that all parties agreed upon.

The event took place over 75 different locations with between 800 and 1,000 attendees. Due to the sheer size of the session, Pulse's clients were less than convinced that even RemotePoll would work. After digging deeper into the logistics and reviewing the steps that the onsite technicians would have to take, the group's fears were calmed. As the real-time results came in during the event, however, both Pulse's team and the clients were thrilled at the result. As Azad put it, "Nothing is quite as satisfying as perfection. It made us look really good and everyone was really happy."

CONCLUSION

Pulse continues to use TurningPoint on a regular basis for information gathering, opinion polling and collecting demographic data among other uses. Azad also knows that RemotePoll is another tool in her toolbox to be used in similar situations. Having a strong relationship with Turning has give Pulse more versatility and allowed them to garner more clients because of such successful events.

"Integrating TurningPoint response technology helps make the meetings more engaging, and that makes the presenter more memorable in the long run," said Azad. "At the end of the day, it helps our clients get valuable feedback that they need to make key decisions. Our clients are really happy with the results. It is such a great platform and we've had a great experience with it."
