ResponseCard XR Student Clicker FAQ’s

FAQs

How do I register my ResponseCard XR classroom clicker?

This vary depending on your professors preference. You may need to give your device ID number to your professor or register your ResponseCard online with your university. Your professor may also desire you to input your name into the card itself. You can do this under the Setup options in your XR ResponseCard's menu.

Where do I find my device ID number?

The device ID number is located on the back on your ResponseCard clicker under the bar code. Your device ID number will be either a 6 digit alpha-numeric code or a 6 digit numeric code. See next FAQ for additional information.

My instructor (the university site) says the device ID number should be alpha-numeric on my ResponseCard, but it is all numbers?

It is possible to have a ResponseCard ID with numbers only. Be sure you are looking at the number under the barcode on the back of the ResponseCard clicker. The numbers are hexadecimal. The numbers can only be 0-9 and A-F. For example, your number will not contain any O's or I's.

I've registered my ResponseCard classroom clicker with my professor, but my card keeps trying to get me to change my channel?

Your card can only send responses when the professor is present and is ready for you to answer. Otherwise, it will prompt you to change your channel, or will tell you that it is not currently accepting answers.

Are you on the Faculty Member's student roster?

If your teacher has asked for your Device ID number and put the numbers into a list, you must be on the list for your ResponseCard student clicker to work in class. The Device ID number may be typed incorrectly or not on the list. Check with your instructor.

I'm trying to register my ResponseCard online; it shows that I already have a device registered?

The system will only require you to register your ResponseCard once, no matter the number of classes you are enrolled in. If your device ID has changed from what is currently showing, you may re-register your card.

Why does the screen go blank?

The XR card is designed to shut off after several seconds in order to save your batteries. To turn it back on, press any button and the screen will pick up where you last left it. You may also press the Menu button at anytime to return to the menu screen.

How do I scroll?

The scroll options are printed in blue on your ResponseCard above or to the side of the scroll buttons. The Yes and No buttons allow you to scroll down or up, and the 1/A and 3/C buttons allow you to scroll left or right.

Where do I enter my student data?

You can enter your data from the Menu on your ResponseCard. Press Menu, then scroll down to the Setup Menu, and press Enter. Choose User Data, and press Enter. You will see a screen allowing you to View, Edit, or Send your User (student) data.

How do I update the ResponseCard XR firmware?

TurningPoint offers a Hardware Updater application that you can download from our website. Using this application and a mini-USB cable, you can update your ResponseCard's firmware.

What type of battery does ResponseCard XR require?

Each ResponseCard XR keypad comes equipped with two AAA batteries. Replacements can easily be purchased at most retail outlets.

Where can the student/faculty member call for further help?

See ResponseCard XR tutorials and support documentation for additional information and instructions for operating your device.
